Work for Globalteer in Peru!
If you have dreamed of combining your English language skills with working for a superb NGO in beautiful Peru, then this could be the job for you!

We are currently looking for a professional and enthusiastic team-player to fill the role of English Language Teacher, Peru.

Globalteer founded Picaflor House, a school for underprivileged children in the Andean village of Oropesa near Cusco in 2010. We provide a free education programme for children aged 3-14 to help improve their school performance as well as teaching life skills and giving them a safe place to play and learn when they are not at state school.

Classroom hours are from 2pm to 5.00pm Monday to Friday with mornings free for class preparation or help with maintaining the school and garden.

Picaflor House has a well-established English Language Programme; with a comprehensive curriculum already in place, we are looking for an EFL teacher to continue the programme and deliver it to the children of Picaflor House.

Your main duties will be to deliver an English Language Programme for beginners up to intermediate students. There will be the opportunity to become involved in other areas of the school’s programmes as you settle in.

This role would suit someone who already has a good grasp of Spanish but is looking to improve their fluency, and particularly someone who wishes to gain experience in a Spanish-speaking environment where you will also be making a big difference to the lives of youngsters living in very challenging circumstances. The ability to speak fluent Spanish, while an advantage, is not essential.

One of Globalteer’s two global offices is located in Cusco so you will have the support of our team for both work and non-work related aspects of your time with us, from finding somewhere to live, to restaurant recommendations.

You will need to be very motivated, energetic and be able to use your initiative. The role can be quite challenging but also incredibly rewarding.

  • Native or fluent written and spoken English with excellent grammar and spelling
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • Motivated with a positive work ethic
  • Desire and motivation to develop ESL teaching skills
  • Experience of or interest in living abroad
  • Passionate about development and education’s role herein
  • Some knowledge of Spanish
  • Knowledge of international development
  • Knowledge of Cusco/Peru
  • Looking to go into a career in ESL teaching/teaching in general
  • Previous experience working as an ESL teacher/teacher

Interested candidates are requested to submit a one page cover letter outlining why you are applying and what you think you can bring to the role, and a detailed CV/Resume to:
Closing date of applications: 5pm GMT, Sunday, 4th June, 2017.

Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for an interview. Applicants who have not heard from Globalteer before Sunday, 25th June 2017 have not been successful in their application. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview either in person or by Skype. Successful applicants will be required to undergo a background check due to the nature of our work with children. We envisage that the successful candidate will start the role ASAP.
